Today I’m guest posting on Notes on Parenting about guided play. I’ve written a lot recently about the importance of play-based learning and the study that is highlighted in this post is a great example of it. The study involves children playing with blocks and how this helps them develop spatial skills. I think there is often a misconception that play-based learning is just a “free-for-all” and the result is chaos. This study clearly shows how just a little guidance from parents can make everyday play into a true learning experience.
