☑️ With the recent time change to Daylight Savings Time (at least in the U.S.), many of us and our kids are still adjusting. That usually means less sleep for parents 😪. If you need a little help getting your kids to calm down for sleep, I recommend this lovely app called Sleepy Stories.

It was created by one of my favorite children’s book publishers Bushel and Peck. The best part–it’s totally FREE (not just a free trial). There are lovely stories and calming music to help kids relax their minds and bodies for sleep. I’ve found myself falling asleep while listening with my kids a few times 🙂

Some of the stories correspond to their books. One of our favorites is 50 Real Heroes for Boys. Some of the stories from the book are read on the app. My boys have loved these stories of famous (and not so well-known) historical figures who exemplify valuable character traits like perseverance, kindness and loyalty. Similarly, they have another book called Big Words for Fearless Girls.

☑️ Have any of you seen the Netflix documentary about the kids who compete in speedcubing? If not, The Speed Cubers is fascinating. These kids (and teens) are masters of the Rubix cube. They can solve the puzzle in mere seconds, sometimes working one in each hand! For older kids, this is very entertaining and inspiring. This show prompted my kids to becomes fascinated with the cube as well and worked for hours learning to solve it. Fun!

☑️ Any social science geeks out there like me? If so, you will love the Hidden Brain podcast. I have learned so many fascinating things about psychology and human behavior from this show. So much of it can apply to many areas of life, including parenting, career, relationships, etc. I like to listen while I walk. Parents, it’s a great form of self-care if you like personal development-type topics.
