☑️ I recently found out about this app called Wondergrade and it has been a welcome change from so many apps on the market. It’s designed solely to help teach kids about social-emotional skills! Obviously, real-world practice is the best way to really solidify these skills but this app can give you and your kids great ideas for how to start. It has ideas for calming techniques, how to cope with big emotions, It’s super kid-friendly and even has short animation illustrating the concepts or strategies so kids can really understand them. A great place to start with supporting your child’s social-emotional needs!
☑️ I just heard about the passing of Prince Philip this morning and although I’m not British, I recognize the passing of an era. I’ve become more and more fascinated with the history of the British Royal family over the past few years. I don’t care so much about the celebrity of it all, but the history buff in me loves learning the backstory behind the lives we see in public. If you are fascinated with all things Royal too, I highly recommend the documentary The Royal House of Windsor. Although I love The Crown, this documentary gives a more historically accurate account of the Windsor family and their history. Fascinating.
☑️ My son has recently been reading this Dragon Masters series and really enjoying it. He’s a bit of a reluctant reader but this book captured his attention and has short chapters so he feels accomplished when he finishes one. A little reminiscent of How to Train Your Dragon, this series focuses on a group of kids who learn they have been chosen to lead and ride dragons but they need help from a wizard to learn the skills. Perfect for 1-3 grade readers.
